Describes the unique Maritime Buoyage System (combination of cardinal and lateral system), which is resolved by the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA), and it is in force in the european seas since 1977.
The system assists to the navigator to identify a mark even in the case that is not pictured in the charts.
