Commodore (N) Dimitrios Alevras, was born in Tyros, Arcadia, in 1973 and was admitted to the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1990, from which he graduated as Ensign in 1994.
His operational service includes assignments mainly in the Fast Patrol Boats of the Fleet as an Armament Officer, Director of Operations and Commanding Officer.
His staff assignments include Operational Evaluation Directorate of the Hellenic Fleet and in the General Staff as a Staff Officer, in the Fast Boat Command as Chief of Staff, Director of Deputy Chief’s of Defense Executive Office and Deputy Director of Chief’s of the Hellenic Navy Executive Office. He has also served in the Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) Operational Planning Branch as a Staff Officer.
Commodore Dimitrios Alevras, has completed all the career schools of the Navy and the Armed Forces as well as Operational Planning School (NATO School Oberammergau), the Joint War College and NATO Defense College. He also holds MSc degrees in Meteorology & Physical Oceanography and MSc in Applied Mathematics, both from the US Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).
He holds all the Medals and Decorations of the Greek Armed Forces stipulated for an officer of his rank and seniority.
In January 2026 he was promoted to Commodore and assumed duties as Director of the Hellenic Navy Hydrographic Service.
He is married and father of a daughter.
